In the past few weeks, I’ve realized the huge effect of the META description tag in making your pages rank high on Google search.
When I started making my META descriptions more informatve and relative to my article, my site started to show up on Google’s first page for the main keywords that are related to my articles.
However, when I noticed that, I started copying the same exact META description to all of my articles that has the same topic, which pulled my page views to a quarter of what I was getting when I had tat perfect, unique META description on only one page.
Also, I didn’t have a “related articles” portion before when I was just getting like 50-150 views per day. Then I thought of adding that to my page just because I thought it would be cool if my visitors will see a list of other articles on my site that they might also like right after reading the article they are on. So I went ahead and installed that. Then days after doing that and the META description thing, my site started getting page views of 200, then 400+ then 500+ until it reached 900+ in a matter of days until after I copied the same META description to all other related pages.
So with this experience, I have realized how important it is to link your pages together and put a very nice, unique, META description for each of your pages.
Hope you learned something! Thanks!
